The Wonderful World of Cardboard, or How to get into Magic the Gathering

Interested in Magic: The Gathering, but don’t know how to start? Don’t worry, I’ll tell you what I believe are the best ways to get into the game. Before delving into it, it should be known that Magic is a pretty big game, having been around for over 20 years, with multiple expansion releases per year, and a massive fanbase of all ages, genders, nationalities, etc. Along with the physical game, there are dozens of digital games, ranging from a replication of the card game, to RPGs and strategy games. The actual game itself has many formats, some of which restrict your card selection, restrict the amount of cards you can play, or give no restrictions whatsoever. Still seems daunting? It is at first, but it’s that way for anything with a large following. If you want to get started in Magic, or get back into Magic after a long hiatus, there are three good ways to get into it nowadays: Casually and/or digitally, attending a Prerelease, or attending an Friday Night Magic or major tournament.

Mega-kill Meltdown: A Look Back

With the recent announcement of the new update for DOTA 2, 6.85, being announced by Icefrog, I felt like it was a time to look back at everything 6.84 did to the meta-game, public’s and competitive.

6.84 gave us Aghanim’s Scepter effects to Alchemist, Legion Commander, Lifestealer, Lone Druid, Morphling, Naga Siren, Nyx Assassin, Outworld Devourer, Tusk and Wraith King. We also got a plethora of new items, tailored around supports and mid laners. Heroes such as Leshrac, and Lina grew more powerful with the addition of Octarine Core, and carries that relied on invisibility for ganking, too grew stronger with the addition of Silver Edge.

Lack of Divas in WWE 2K16

There was a lot of talk about the roster for the WWE 2K16 after it was announced by 2K Sports. The roster was the largest ever for the series with 120 wrestlers for players to pick, but only 13 of the wrestlers represented are women, or Divas as they are called in the WWE. This lack of female wrestlers in the title contradicts the steps taken by the WWE to breath more life into the Diva Division of the WWE.

Absence of Women in Madden NFL 16

I have been a fan of the Madden NFL series for a very long time. The game has taught me much about the rules and strategy of American football. Early versions of the game allowed you to run plays in a training mode with John Madden instructing the player exactly how the play was going to be run and explaining the terminologies. Later editions allowed you to design your own unique plays that you can use in the game. I never was very good designing my own plays, but it was fun to try to be the coach of my favorite team.
