While the PlayStation 5 is still hard to find, there many things the player can do once they get one. Even if the PS5 is lacking in exclusive games, there will still be enough to do right out of the box.
Astro’s Playroom
Astro’s Playroom is free to download with every PS5 console. When the console is set up, the player will have the option to download this game for free. Astro’s Playroom is a tech demo built to show what both the PS5 and the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers are capable of. The player will take control of Astro, a tiny robot that lives inside of the PS5. The player must navigate levels themed after different parts of the PS5 such as SSD Speedway or GPU Jungle. This puzzle platformer rewards the player for exploring by offering collectables themed previous PlayStation consoles and accessories.
Transferring PS4 Content
The PS5 is backwards compatible with most PS4 games. Should the player choose, they can transfer over their PS4 games. Either through a direct transfer, plugging in an external hard drive, or just downloading them. Some PS4 games on the PS5 received patches to help increase performance, this could better framerates or more stability. For games not optimized for PS5, the player would still be to see increased stability and better slightly better load times. Almost every PS4 game will work with the PS5 with a few exceptions. PSVR will require a special adapter to work on the PS5, though that can be obtained for free. There are also seven games that will not work on the PS5 in general. Unless the following for We Sing grows over the years, seven games missing is negligible.
PlayStation Plus Collection
The PlayStation Plus Collection is a compilation of games the player can download for free if they are subscribed to PlayStation Plus. There are 19 games available here, all of which are games that have defined the PS4’s generation of gaming. For players picking up a PlayStation for the first time, this means they will have those 19 games to start off with. On the other hand, if the player these games during the PS4’s life, they will be available here. Combined with the three free monthly games with PlayStation Plus, players will have 23 games to start their PS5. Of course, the player can add PS5 games through the PlayStation Store website prior to obtaining the console.
Gaming Presets
The player will be able to change gaming presets on a system level. Difficulty, resolution, first-person, and third-person settings can be adjusted here. Having this as an option will allow players to set every game to their desired settings in one move. This will automatically set all games to closest match the desired presets. PlayStation is making strides to becoming more accessible the generations go on.
The PS5 is an amazing console. Currently it is the fastest selling console of all time in the United States. While it might be hard finding one right now, at some point they will be more readily available. Players will have plenty to do when they get their new PS5.
Thanks for writing on this. I am a big fan of gaming and I love game talks a lot. The new ps5 games are still a fairly new console, so there are still plenty more games on their way. You can play the best PS4 games on PS5. Thanks to the system’s comprehensive backwards compatibility.
